Twitch has named ExtraEmily as one of its newest Ambassadors, but the decision has quickly caused a new wave of criticism from streamers. The platform announced its latest group of Ambassadors saying, “Meet MORE of the Ambassador Crew.” Twitch says its Ambassadors are creators who represent the platform, support positive change and help build its community. However, ExtraEmily’s past streaming incidents have led some streamers to question whether she should have been chosen for the role.
Why are streamers questioning ExtraEmily’s Twitch Ambassador role?
The backlash mainly focuses on ExtraEmily’s history of driving while streaming. She has been suspended by Twitch multiple times over incidents involving unsafe driving during broadcasts. One user reacted to her new role by saying, “You put the chick who almost kills people while driving and streaming as an ambassador!!?? LMAO!”The latest incident happened on June 28 during an IRL stream. ExtraEmily appeared to look at her phone while turning and came close to hitting an SUV. There was no crash, but Twitch suspended her account. The suspension lasted about 24 hours before her channel was restored. The incident was her third driving-related Twitch suspension. Her first came in October 2023, when she was banned for 18 hours after using her phone while driving. At the time, she told viewers, “I am reformed.”In April 2025, she received another one-day suspension after she was seen running a red light during a livestream. After her latest suspension, ExtraEmily said she would reduce her driving streams and hired a driver for her IRL broadcasts.
Twitch’s decision puts its Ambassador choice under fresh scrutiny
ExtraEmily’s new position has also brought attention to Twitch’s rules and how strongly the platform enforces them.Another user was much more direct in criticizing the decision, writing, “Twitch is such a joke lmao. Extra Emily constantly puts people’s lives in danger by driving and streaming, refuses to learn her lesson, and only gets a slap on the wrist. Fire Dan Clancy already ffs.”The criticism comes as other creators have previously called on Twitch to take stronger action against driving streams. Asmongold, Jesse Cox and others have argued that Twitch should consider banning this type of content completely.Despite the criticism, Twitch has now selected ExtraEmily as an Ambassador, making her one of the creators representing the platform. The decision has therefore reopened a larger debate about what Twitch expects from its Ambassadors and how it decides which creators should represent the brand. For critics, the appointment sends the wrong message. For Twitch, however, ExtraEmily remains part of its latest Ambassador group despite her past suspensions and controversies.
