The Education Department in Puducherry has announced a two-day holiday for 69 government and private schools that have been selected as examination centres for the Integrated Graduate Level Examination. The affected schools will remain closed on August 21 and August 22 as preparations are being made for the examination.The Integrated Graduate Level Examination is scheduled to be conducted from August 21 to August 23. Since the selected schools will be used as examination centres, the authorities have ordered the two-day closure to facilitate arrangements. Students of the affected schools will consequently have three consecutive days off, including Sunday.69 schools selected as examination centresA total of 69 schools have been identified as examination centres across the Union Territory. The Puducherry region has 53 centres, while eight schools in Karaikal, three in Mahe and five in Yanam have also been selected.Schools identified in the Puducherry region include Annai Sivagami Government School, V.O.C. Government School, Galve Chellan School, Uzhavarkarai Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Elango Adigal School, Jeevanandam School, Manimekalai School, Navalar School, Pandit Duraisamy Government High School, Savarirayalu Nayak School, Chinnaththa Government School, Thiruvalluvar School and Murugambakkam Government School.Holiday announced for examination arrangementsThe two-day holiday has been announced specifically for schools being used as examination centres. The authorities will use the period to complete arrangements required for conducting the examination.The Director of Education, Mohan Kumar, has instructed the heads of the concerned schools to make the necessary arrangements for the examination system and ensure that the centres are prepared.Compensatory working days to be announcedThe Education Department has stated that alternative working days will be announced later to compensate for the two-day holiday. Students and parents will have to follow further instructions issued by their respective schools regarding the replacement working days.The holiday does not apply to every school in Puducherry. It is limited to the 69 government and private schools selected as examination centres for the Integrated Graduate Level Examination.The examination will continue through August 23 at the designated centres. School authorities have been directed to coordinate with the examination administration and complete all required preparations before the test begins.
