NIT Rourkela records 1,340 placement offers in 2025-26

NIT Rourkela placement 2025-26: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela students received 1,340 placement offers during the 2025-26 placement drive, along with 364 six-month internship offers. Pre-final-year students also secured 258 summer internships, the highest number of such offers recorded in the institute’s history.The B.Tech programme recorded a placement rate of 95.47 per cent, with the highest CTC reaching Rs 131 lakh per annum (LPA). The average CTC stood at Rs 15.33 LPA, while the median CTC was Rs 12.50 LPA. More than 83 students secured annual packages exceeding Rs 30 LPA.B.Tech and M.Tech placement figuresThe highest B.Tech CTC was followed by Rs 83.60 LPA secured by a Computer Science and Engineering student. All registered candidates in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering secured placement opportunities. Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Industrial Design, and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering each recorded placement rates above 90 per cent.For M.Tech students, the highest CTC was Rs 46.38 LPA in Computer Science and Engineering, followed by Rs 44 LPA in Electronics and Communication Engineering. The programme recorded an average CTC of Rs 11.90 LPA and a median CTC of Rs 9 LPA.Key placement figures

Recruiters and job rolesA total of 374 recruiters participated in the placement drive, with approximately 50 per cent being first-time recruiters. Software and IT Services accounted for the largest share of participating companies, followed by Manufacturing, BFSI, Electronics and Education.The Career Development Centre reported that core-sector roles accounted for 41.69 per cent of total job offers. Software and IT contributed 17.79 per cent, Power and Heavy 13.77 per cent, BFSI 11.52 per cent, Analytics and Consulting 9.5 per cent, Electronics, Semiconductor and VLSI 8.40 per cent, Education 7.23 per cent, Manufacturing 8.09 per cent and Oil and Gas 7.86 per cent.Job roles included Software Engineer, Software Development Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Graduate Trainee Engineer, Data Analyst and Business Analyst.Internships and industry participationThe highest internship stipend reached Rs 1.50 lakh per month. The six-month internships offered potential Pre-Placement Offers after successful completion, while summer internships may provide similar opportunities during the next placement season.Major recruiters included Aditya Birla Group, Bharat Electronics Limited, JSW Group, Larsen and Toubro, ZS Associates, Vedanta Resources, Texas Instruments, ExxonMobil, Reliance Industries, TATA Consultancy Services, Deloitte USI, Accenture, Qualcomm and TATA Steel, among others.The institute said the placement drive concluded against a backdrop of global economic challenges, including recession-related layoffs.
