Anderson grows many plants in her estate, but there are some which are her favourites

Her enthusiasm for gardening came through clearly in a 2025 interview with Elle Decor, where she spoke about the range of flowers and vegetables she grows on the property, including her fondness for Yves Piaget roses and sunflowers, which she described as an especially cheerful plant to grow. It’s the vegetable garden, though, that she seems proudest of. “You couldn’t name a vegetable I don’t have,” she told Elle Decor, explaining that she rotates her crops every season and treats each one as a chance to try something new.

How growing vegetables and taking care of her garden is a form of therapy for her

Anderson has also spoken about how the garden came to mean so much to her. She has said her love for growing her own food took root after she renovated her Vancouver Island property, “I had a lot of space, and I just felt like I wanted to live off the land and grow my own garden and do a lot of canning and pickling,” and carry on a tradition passed down through her family.Over time, tending to the garden turned into something closer to therapy for her. “It really has been a self-soothing meditation. I read books to my plants. I do all sorts of funny things… This is the Sonsie lifestyle: Having little quirks and fun and joy”, she explained.
